Without You

Adrift upon the Sea of Tears
The boat has hit an isle
All the humans here are full of fears
And I’ve forgotten how to smile

Nature runs its course
The birds do their thing
And the people march like ants

A calmness overtakes me
And I stare at stains on the ground
Content within my trance

Nature and Industry play clumsy leap frog
One always kicking the other’s ass

The Heart is a distant Watcher
Just like your imaginary gods
So easy to adopt one or the other
Though it is more to fulfill a desire
Than anything Holy

Adrift upon the Sea of Tears
The boat has hit an isle
All the humans here are full of fears
And I’ve forgotten how to smile

The Road

Accident or purpose
A baby is born

Its paths are open
Though some get better directions than others

And even despite
Having some idea where to go
There is so much noise and so many colors
It can be hard to keep one’s eyes on the road

The heart is a lonely compass
Nobody wants to be cold
And even the warm arms of a tropical sea
Are not enough to calm your soul

Your only salvation
Is the same as damnation
When your gut fills with passion
And you toss out discretion

And decide on your own
That there just might be…another road
